Stepping Stones
Stepping Stones is a parenting program offered at Park Ridge Community Church which helps parents and kids learn about basic church teachings together by encouraging both to communicate better. Stepping Stones informs parents about the spiritual, emotional and physical needs of their children at key stages in their lives.
We offer the following Stepping Stones classes:
“My Bible” is an eight-week course for 3rd graders that covers 125 passages of Scripture. We give the participants Bibles on the first day of the class and they get to mark the passages as we walk through them over the course of the 8 weeks. At the end, they are presented with their Bibles during a Sunday service.
Meeting in 2012 on the following dates (all classes meet from 4:30 - 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary):
January 11, 18, 25, February 1, 8, 15, 22, 19 with Bible Presentation occuring during worship at 10:00 am on Sunday, March 11, 2012.
“Holy Communion” This is a three-week class which helps to prepare 2nd graders for their first communion. All are welcome to take communion at our church regardless of age, but this is a nice way to help teach kids about the meaning behind the sacrament. We attempt to schedule this class so that it aligns with Maundy Thursday for their first communion.
Meeting in 2012 on the following dates (all classes meet from 5:00 - 6:00 pm in the Sanctuary):
March 7, 14, and 21 with First Communion occuring during worship on Thursday, April 5, 2012 at 7:30 pm with a seder meal for students and family at 6:30 pm in Jordan Hall.
Both of these classes are typically offered in the spring, but please check the online calendar for the latest schedule.
