FAQ
Q: What denomination is Park Ridge Community Church?
A:
Park Ridge Community Church (PRCC) is an independent Christian congregation, with ties to the United Church of Christ (UCC). PRCC traces many of its traditions to the New England Congregationalist tradition of Protestantism. Much of the Church’s mission and focus is summarized in the UCC Statement of Mission.

Q: When are services held?
A:
Our worship schedule may change for special events, so please check the online calendar for our most current worship schedule. Occasionally, we will offer one all congregation service at 10:00 AM only. Please contact us for these dates which occur about 6 times a year.
During the entire year, we office two worship services every Sunday morning. The first is a brief chapel service at 8:30 AM. The second is a more traditional service in the sanctuary which begins at 10:00 AM, celebrated with our Chancel Choir and music soloists.
Child care is available in our nursery from 9:45 AM - 11:30 AM. Sunday school for students from kindergarten through adult meets throughout the school year during the 10:00 AM service. Children join their parents for the beginning of the 10:00 AM service and are dismissed to Sunday school after a short children’s message from the pastor.
During the months of June through August, an outdoor Garden service is held at 8:30 AM, weather permitting, and the 10:00 AM traditional service is held in the main Sanctuary. Childcare in the nursery remains the same and is offered during the 10:00 AM service times. Our Garden service is located on the church lawn at the southeast corner of Butler Place and Prospect Avenues, just south of the church. In case of inclement weather, we will worship in the Chapel.

Q: What are the backgrounds of your members?
A:
PRCC is proud of the diversity of faiths and viewpoints represented in our congregation. Our members come from a rich variety of Christian traditions. We have represented in our congregation Methodists, Roman Catholics, and Evangelicals, Unitarians, and many others. An important theme at PRCC is that we encourage discussion and sharing of different viewpoints as we journey together to live out the teachings of Christ. We hold a common belief that our spiritual experience is enriched by the presence of a diversity of viewpoints.

Q: Do you have to be a member to…have a wedding?…enroll in Sunday school?...sing in the choir?
A:
There are many ways to participate actively at PRCC without being an official member. In fact, participation is a wonderful way to get to know the Church, make friends, and consider eventual membership. ALL are welcome to participate fully in the life of Park Ridge Community Church without the need for membership. Families may enroll their children in Sunday school at any time. Youth and adult fellowship activities are open to all visitors. However, participation in some of the congregational leadership roles does require formal membership. It is also important to note that weddings are offered only for members or friends and family of members of PRCC.

Q: How does PRCC reach out to the greater community and the world?
A:
It is our duty and pleasure to serve the community outside of our own membership. Our work in the area of outreach continues to grow and has included providing Christmas dinners and gifts to families in need through the Bethel Home project, Habitat for Humanity building projects, aid to victims of Hurricane Katrina, and mission trips to Appalachia and Ruiz, Mexico. Q: What is the Church’s position on…?
A:
We take seriously our commitment to respect the various positions and understandings of contemporary matters of social concern held by the individual members of the congregation and our visitors. Rather than issuing doctrinaire statements, we seek to challenge ourselves to think and pray and research and then discuss these issues. In this way, we intend to assist one another in forming a perspective and a basis for action which is in keeping with each one’s faith and practice. As a congregation, we agree that, “In a time when division and difference between Christians are becoming sharper, and when battles rage over almost every point of tradition, doctrine, and faith, we still believe that those things which unite Christians are more important than those which divide; the truth is many-sided and will prevail in an atmosphere of love and acceptance, and that all who call Jesus Lord have something to offer to us, and to the world.”
