PRCC KITCHEN RENOVATION PROJECT
Feeding the Spirit of Our Church…Feeding the Spirit of Our Community
Good news! The proposed renovation and upgrade of the kitchen at the heart of our congregational life is now a reality.
Good things have already happened. As you will recall:
- The initial budget of $271,000 was conservatively reduced to $170,000, a savings of over $100,000, because:
- We decided to utilize local Park Ridge contractors along with some of our skilled members.
- The demolition work will be done by PRCC volunteers.
- PRCC member Tom Klimmeck volunteered to serve as general contractor. (Tom oversaw the highly successful construction of the new Medical Lending Closet garage)
- We will purchase used stainless steel restaurant equipment or new if we can obtain it at cost.
- Given the economy, we will be able to negotiate very favorable prices for materials and contractors,
- This project may even become a local, Park Ridge, stimulus project of sorts, energizing our congregation and the community.
Now, there is more good news. Here are some important and exciting updates:
- Tom Klimmeck met with the architect/designer, project manager from the equipment vendors and the general contractor. The plan is to have construction drawings will be in front of the city next week for their approval and permit solicitation.
- The equipment vendor will be providing us a price sheet for the various equipment purchases we have identified. (we will retain the range, convection oven, refrigerator, and dishwasher)
- We are gearing-up to engage all sorts of volunteer help for moving items out of the kitchen and for the demolition phase. Be ready to jump onboard to move kitchenware and to remove old cabinets and equipment.
Last, but certainly not least, there is particularly good and encouraging news:
- Thanks to many very generous initial contributions, $30,000* of the $75,000 in pledges needed to complete the project has already been received. (matching dollars will come from PRCC funds)
- (*Note that an additional gift of $10,000 was given to the organ fund to free up funds for the kitchen).
What will you do? If you have not already done so, will you prayerfully consider how you and your family will support this important project by:
- Providing a one-time gift or a monthly pledge?
- Funding a gift of a specific piece of equipment for the kitchen? Join our "dollar-day" club?
- Volunteering your time and effort to the demolition and restoration?

There’s no time like the present! Summer is the perfect season for the kitchen renovation. Our goal is to complete before Rally Sunday in September. Thank you for all of your faithful support, past, present, and future!
