Confirmation
Head to Heart (H2H) is a three year, interactive, confirmation program for 6th, 7th, & 8th grade students. It has one focus: to grow middle school small groups into supportive communities of Christian faith that become the basis for middle school and high school youth ministry.
H2H begins with an introduction for parents and confirmands to the program called “Stepping Stones 6: Entry into Confirmation -- How to Survive Adolescence.” Once completed, the regularly planned H2H program begins and includes Theme Events, Serve & Plays, and Huddles.
Theme Events:
Two of the monthly gatherings are Theme Events. This is the actual “confirmation class” or meeting with the Confirmands. Theme Events use multi-media presentations, guest speakers, contemporary music, and games to teach Christian faith in ways that are exciting, interactive, and effective. A central part of each Theme Event is the small group time when 4-7 youth meet with the Guides and Junior Guides to share the highs and lows of their day and to engage in small group activities that reinforce the teaching of that evening. These small groups are composed of youth of the same gender and the same grade level. The adult Guides are parents of youth in the program.
Serve & Plays:
Serve & Plays, the event when individual small groups meet together to engage in either a service activity or a fellowship activity (often the activity is both). This is essential for the bonding of the group but also for developing a sense of outreach to others. It does not necessarily occur during the regular confirmation time, but is scheduled with the individual small group.
Huddles:
Youth do not attend huddles. The Huddle is a time for the adult Guides and leaders to check in and plan for the next few sessions.
H2H Schedule:
Head to Heart typically meets on Wednesday evenings during the school year, 6:30-8:00, in the sanctuary of the church. Please check the online
calendar for the most current schedule.
Confimation Sunday will be held on May 23rd, 2010 at 10:00 AM.
