Learn from mistakes of the past

A letter to the editor from our Senior Minister

Five Park Ridge churches and Action Ridge, a social justice group, will host "A Call to Peaceful Prayer and Action for Racial Justice" on Tuesday, June 2 from 6 to 7 p.m. outside Park Ridge Community Church, 100 Courtland Ave.

The gathering, according to organizers, is to "honor the lives of George Floyd, Breonna Taylor and Ahmaud Arbery," and to "decry the evil of racism, pray and hear a call to action." Several speakers will be featured.

Park Ridge Best BBQ - Vine St Competition & Fest

The overall winner at Saturday’s Vine Street BBQ  competition was TJD Smokehouse. But, out this year's field of 40 teams, a brand new Park Ridge group, Aporkalypse Now, emerged; winning three major prizes including Park Ridge’s best BBQ. The Aporkalypse Now team is manned by neighbors Larry Martin, Mike Artrip and Steve Eartherton. They took first place in the Ribs competition and were named “Reserve Champions Overall.” 


They are pictured holding their awarded prize plates and ribbons. Proceeds from the contest benefit Avenues To Independence, Bear Necessities Pediatric Cancer Foundation and the Maine Township Food Pantry.
